PUBLIC HOUSING INDUSTRY GROUPS CALL FOR EMERGENCY RENTAL VOUCHERS IN NEXT COVID RELIEF PACKAGE

On February 1, 2021, the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities (CLPHA), the Moving to Work Collaborative, the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), and the Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (PHADA) sent a joint letter to both Senate and House leadership calling on Congress to allocate $50 billion in emergency vouchers in the next coronavirus (COVID-19) relief bill. The letter states that Housing Choice Vouchers (HCVs) are the most effective solution to support low-income renter households during the pandemic, providing durable and efficient emergency assistance for the many workers whose jobs have disappeared.
