Rand McNally turns mobile devices into engine-tethered EOBR

Rand McNally's new HD 100 device provides electronic hours of service recording, text- and dispatch-integrated messaging plus driver performance monitoring capabilities, through mobile devices. Designed to work with a variety of mobile devices, the HD 100's HOS recorder qualifies as a compliant electronic driver log. That's because the compact device plugs into a truck's on-board diagnostics port and records the truck's GPS position along with critical vehicle-specific information such as engine diagnostics and driving behavior. The device, roughly 3 1/2 inches by 5 inches, can be installed in less than 10 minutes. It sends the information via WiFi to the mobile device.
