DGAC's International conference is designed to promote greater understanding between shippers and regulators on either side of the Atlantic but another interesting outcome is often a realisation of the gulf that divides the regulators from the regulated industry. The Dangerous Goods Advisory Council's (DGAC) sixth International Dangerous Goods Conference was held this past March 3 to 4 in Antwerp, Belgium. In addition to offering delegates an up-to-date summary of the recently agreed changes to the international, modal and regional regulations governing the transport of dangerous goods (HCB May 2005, page 13), the two days provided all those in the conference room in the Antwerp Hilton with an opportunity to press their concerns on those responsible for drawing up the regulations they have to comply with.
