GHS Some of the topics discussed by the GHS experts may seem arcane but those impacted by the transport regulations need to keep a wary eye on what is being discussed, since some of the Subcommittee's decisions will eventually affect the Model Regulations. The Sub-committee of experts on the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) held its eighth session in Geneva this past December 7 to 9. Chaired by Kim Headrick (Canada) with Anna-Liisa Sundquist (Finland) sitting as vice-chairman, experts from 23 countries attended alongside observers from five more (Bulgaria, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Thailand), representatives from the European Commission (EC), the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the Secretariat of the Basel Convention, the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the World Health Organisation/International Programme on Chemical Safety (WHO/IPCS) and 12 non-governmental organisations.
