Rresults a strategy of increased specialisation, combined with a growing international presence and anrnongoing focus on enhanced performance and cost reduction, is paying dividends for UK-headquartered logisticrnand supply chain management firm TDGrnAt the start of August, TDG announced a first half 2007 headline operating profit of f 8m, up 23 per cent year-on-year, on a turnover of £319m, itself up 26 per cent on the 2006 figure, and a headline profit before tax up 18 per cent year-on-year to £5.8m. While the company's first half net business wins were down slightly from last year's £34.3m to £32.3m, it asserts that they are nonetheless "in line with levels achieved at the comparable stage last year" and thus it remains "on track to deliver higher net and gross business wins" than previously achieved in 2006. "The results," says CEO David Garman, "reflect the continuing progress in our Chemicals division and in our other specialised logistics activities generally, which reinforces confidence in our strategy to develop positions of strength in specialised sectors. We are encouraged by the performance of the businesses acquired during 2006 and since the year end, all of which are already earnings enhancing."
