The 86-member Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) has launched the first of a four-pronged programme aimed at raising standards at marine terminals for safer berthing and ship-to-shore interfacing. The four components of OCIMF's Marine Terminal Information System (MTIS), which was initiated in 2009, comprise: Marine Terminal Particulars Questionnaire and Database (MTPQ), which will be used to compile a comprehensive database of terminal particulars, covering structures and quantitative data; Marine Terminal Management and Self-Assessment (MTMSA), which will outline best practices and define key performance indicators so that terminal operators can assess the effectiveness of their management processes and systems for both their terminal and berth operations;
