A year of two halves

The past 12 months proved to be a bit of a mixed bag for Greif, with the worlds largest producer of both rigid and flexible industrial packagings seeing its 2011 net income drop from $210.0m to $ 176.1 m despite a 23 per cent rise in net sales from $3.5bn to a record $4.2bn. Likewise, although fourth quarter net sales grew from a 2010 figure of $993.9m to $l.lbn, net income over the same period shrivelled from $76.6m to $20.8m.
