Highlights from Carmakers Speak Panel

This year 1 was again honored to be asked by the SAE to organize and moder-ate the Carmakers Speak panel for Con-vergence 2010, which took place last month. I learned a lot from the panelists about their needs and challenges as they provide electrical and electronics systems and parts for current and future vehicles. Representative of a global view, the panel-ists are top electrical engineers from Ford, GM, Chrysler, PSA, BMW and Honda. Here are some highlights from the Con-vergence session. BMW's Michael Wiirtenberger said BMW has been trying to get the automo-tive semiconductor industry to go for zero PPM (parts per million) quality level.
