Review: Cruise + Ferry 2005

Initiated by a strong increase in cruise travel, the quantity of passengers choosing to take a cruise last year surpassed all previous booking records within the last decade. Al in all, a record of 10.5 million passengers went to sea in 2004. This was announced in mid-March at the 20th annual Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention (March 14-17, 2005) in Miami by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). This was good news to all participating companies and it made sense for shipping companies to place contracts for new vessels. Today, the cruiseship order-book counts more than 20 new-buildings with around 2.5 million GT, capable of accommodating more than 60,000 passengers in lower beds.
