Against the markets expec tation of one year ago, the ratification process for IMO's ballast water management con vention is still not finished. At the end of July 2012, according to IMO 35 countries have filed the respective documents - five more than needed. But these 35 states represent only 27,95 % of the world tonnage, instead of the required 35 %.
