The Danish expert for class approved cold straightening of rudder stocks and propeller shafts is working on a extension of its workshop and on new big lathes. The company sees itself as a »urgent repair workshop«, a strategy which requires fully equipped workshop facilities. Today, MarineShaft has 3 workshops at tree locations in Hirtshals. The workshop at Silvervej is 1,600 m~2, and it is being extended with 60 m. Almost doubling the size of the workshop with a new 1,400 m~2. The lifting capacity will be increased from 100 to 200 t. »We expect the building to be ready for use this fall,« says CCO Lisa Hjermitslev. The plan for the extra 1,400 m~2 is to install a new 27 m-long »Skoda« lathe that was recently bought. »Besides this lathe, we also need space for our biggest hydraulic press«, she adds. This hydraulic press has a max press capacity of 8,000 t and can cold straighten shafts up to 1,5 m.
