Hamburg terminal operator HHLA and Hyperloop Transportation Technologies are developing the technology to launch containers through tubes at speeds of hundreds of km/h. As a development budget, the joint venture plans 7 mill. €. The completed evolution of the project is scheduled for 2021 - in time for the then ITS World Congress (Intelligent Transport Systems) hosted by Hamburg that year. The partners do not envisage to build a route to the port's hinterland or for transfers between the terminals, but concentrate on technological development and international marketing. The transfer station, a transport capsule and 100 m track on the terminal site will be realized for development, testing and demonstration purposes.%Deutschland als Innovationsstandort, und dann noch für eine so extravagante Idee wie den Hyperloop - die HHLA und ihr amerikanischer Partner HTT wagen es. Ziel des neuen Gemeinschaftsunternehmens Hyperport Cargo Solutions ist die Entwicklung und spätere Vermarktung eines Transportsystems für Seecontainer. Zunächst ist der Aufbau einer Übergabestation für Testzwecke an einem Hamburger HHLA-Terminal sowie die Entwicklung einer Transportkapsel für Standardseecontainer geplant. Die Gründung des 50/50 Joint Ventures wurde Anfang Dezember 2018 besiegelt.
