Fla. TV station pulls Steyer group ad under pressure from governor's campaign

The political action committee of billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer yesterday shrugged off a Fort Myers, Fla., TV station's move to stop airing one of its ads against Florida Gov. Rick Scott following a cease-and-desist letter from the GOP incumbent's lawyers. The Fox affiliate WFXT removed a NextGen Climate PAC ad that linked Scott to a plan for acid injection in an oil production facility near the state's beloved Everglades region, the governor's legal team at Holtzman Vogel Josefiak PLLC told his campaign late yesterday. Lawyers had slammed the ad as "defamatory" in a letter last Friday to TV stations airing it, noting that Scott's administration in fact had revoked the permit of the driller in question.
