Ofwat to fine Thames Water

The water regulator, Ofwat says it proposes to impose a fine on Thames Water for its failure to achieve customer service performance standards. Last year Thames' turnover was £1.4 billion. Ofwat could therefore fine the company £140 million - or 10% of its turnover - for its latest failures - part of Ofwat's wider investigation into Thames Water's customer service performance. Ofwat says that the investigation also covers a longer time period than the period for which a penalty will apply.
