Scottish Water names interim head

Ronnie Mercer has been named as interim Chair of Scottish Water following the resignation of Professor Alan Alexander in February. He will head Scottish Water until the end of 2006. Mercer was formerly Managing Director of Southern Water, then an executive with Scottish Power. Deputy Environment Minister Rhona Brankin said: "As interim Chair, he will lead Scottish Water as it starts to deliver the improvements in quality and standards that the Executive requires it to achieve over the next four years.
