According to WWF's Living Planet Report 2006, human demands have overshot the carrying capacity of the natural environment. Rather than living on the planet's interest, we are chewing into the Earth's biocapital, currently exceeding the regeneration rate by about 25%, resulting in rapid degradation of natural resources. That's up from 21% in the last report, which was issued two years ago.
