Quantifying Your EMS — What Works, What Doesn't - Your Responses

ISO 14001 has been in existence for 10 years as the de facto standard for describing how to create and implement an EMS to facilitate and control an organization's management of its environmental footprint, both locally and globally. "Ancillary tangibles" of a successful EMS can include monetary and material savings, as well as a decrease in the risks associated with various environmental aspects and impacts (often one of the metrics used to justify an organization's investment in ISO 14001 in the first place). That 10-year milestone prompted us to ask our readers to describe their experiences with implementing an ISO 14001-conforming EMS and subsequently achieving ISO 14001 third-party certification.
