About 234 million electronic items will be dumped in Australia in 2009, according to a report by the Total Environment Centre and Environment Victoria. The 2009 update of their report, Tipping Point: Australia's E-Waste Crisis, recommends a national recycling scheme. Used TVs and computers could be returned to central recycling centers. The plan would be funded by fees of up to Aus $35 (US $32) on TVs and Aus $10 (US $9) on laptop computers.
