In a bid to bolster its image as environmentally conscious, at a time when sales of bottled water continue to dip, PepsiCo is embarking on efforts to lessen the environmental impacts associated with several of its product lines. According to the Wall Street Journal , PepsiCo is reducing the amount of plastic it uses to package the bottled water it distributes in the United States. The half-liter bottle of Aquafina will now weigh 20% less than its predecessor, making Aquafina one of the lightest bottled water brands in the US marketplace.
