Behavior of waves in high density polyethylene geomembranes: a laboratory study

In this laboratory study, the behavior of waves of the type seen in field deployed high density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembranes was studied. Four experimental variables were evaluated: normal stress, orginal wave height, thickness of geomembrane and temperature. Twenty-five separate tests were conducted, each for 1000 hours duration. Each of the tests utilized HDPE geomembranes with strain gases attached in a number of critical locations.
