Yurii Mikhailovich Pushcharovsky Turns 95

摘要

On December 31, 2011, Academician Yurii Mikhailovich Pushcharovsky, outstanding geologist, laureate of state prizes of the Soviet Union and Russian Federation, celebrated his 95th anniversary. One of the brilliant scientists pertaining to the tectonic school of the Geological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, Pushcharovsky is widely known among Russian and foreign geologists. His works on many topical problems of theoretical and applied geology are commonly acknowledged. In reference to Pushcha-rovsky's scientific works (more than 500 publications, including 15 monographs), the breadth of views on various subjects from specific problems of regional geology and cartography to global tectonics and geodymanics of the Earth's geospheres should be noted, as well as the concise formulations of scientific problems, the exhaustive completeness of their solutions, and logically valid theoretical models based on thoroughly processed factual data.
