How to reconcile the challenges of serving local communities and town and country planning on the one hand and of journey time competitiveness including access time on the other when choosing the location of train stations (central/peripheral) for a high speed network. It is this issue that one of the winners of the RGCF competition on articles describes, based on the types of TGV stations in France and the choices made on the subject in Belgium,Germany, Italy and Spain.
