The February/March 2011 cover featuring a Circa-1925 illustration of a Fairbanks-Morse Type Y Diesel generated several interesting comments from readers. The most interesting, though, was an anonymous tip from California that a complete example of the engine pictured was for sale in Stevinson, CA! According to the tipster, the engine is permanently mounted to a semi-trailer and is bigger than you can imagine. It belonged to well-known West Coast large engine collector Otis Hardy, who has passed away, and is being sold by his wife Kathy Hardy.
