摘要

The project is for the residential halls inside a rich green campus, located in the suburbs approximately thirty minutes from center Singapore. The residential halls will provide housing for about 1,400 students, faculty and staff members. The halls consist of eight three-way buildings with planar shapes similar to branches spreading out from a tree. Ample water, wind and greenery will run between these buildings to create an "artificial forest" environment. Building shape and plot planning were determined through repeated environment simulations. The prevailing wind flows smoothly to the south and north between the buildings. The wind is also taken into the hallway, with windows placed on the hallway-side walls to encourage natural ventilation. Aluminum lattice louvers and windows comprise a double-skin facade, with windows that act as "wind catchers" to capture the wind on the building surface. The result is a kind of breathing facade that allows light and wind to flow through, while also shielding from sunlight.
