This text presents the perspective of the representatives of the American intersubjective school on empathy. It first of all summarises the characteristic positions of the intersubjective school and then presents a number of uses of the notions of empathy in American psychoanalysis. It particularly underlines the fact that the concept of empathy refers both to a mode of knowledge and an attitude favouring the analytic relation. It then examines how this concept enters the relational and creativist theories of the intersubjectivists and questions the weakening of the notion of subjectivity resulting from the occultation of the correlative otherness of the unconscious.%Ce texte expose la perspective des représentants de l'école intersubjectiviste américaine sur l'empathie. Il résume d'abord les positions caractéristiques de l'école intersubjectiviste et présente ensuite quelques usages de la notions d'empathie dans la psychanalyse américaine. Il souligne notamment que le concept d'empathie y a à la fois référé à un mode de connaissance et à une attitude qui devait favoriser la relation analytique. Il examine ensuite comment ce concept a trouvé sa place dans les positions relationnelles et créativistes des intersubjectivistes, et il s'interroge sur l'appauvrissement de la notion de subjectivité qui découle de l'occultation de l'altérité de l'inconscient qui en est corrélative.
