Martin Bleasby

Early influences run deep, but it can take time to find a lasting and rewarding outlet. Hertfordshire born and bred Martin Bleasby was keen on art at school, but it never struck him as a potential way of life. Over a period of time, two things conspired to bring Martin to the realisation that the combination of art and aeroplanes was in his blood. In the mid-1980s, he clapped eyes on a David Sheppard painting of a HS Harrier and was inspired, as many others have been. Thanks to the Guild of Aviation Artists (GAvA), Martin later got to meet David and find out what a warm and endearing character he is. But it was the late 1990s before Martin really got his teeth into painting - at first as a calming influence and later as a passion. In 2002, he joined GAvA and met Charles Thompson at one of the regional meetings.
