Sqn Ldr Tadeusz Andersz dfc died on October 29, aged 89. He escaped from Poland in September 1939, eventually making his way to England and joining the RAF's 315 'Deblinski' Squadron. He went on to serve with the USAAF's 56th FG under the command of Lt Col Francis Gabreski and ended the war with two Fw 190 'kills' to his credit. He was one of the few Poles who remained in the service after the conflict, retiring in 1973.
