Flying-boats on the Medway

It was very interesting to see the articles in the May edition on the Short Sunderland. Being born in Kent close to the River Medway I have many memories of Rochester-built flying-boats, including as a very small child the first flight of the Short-Mayo composite mail plane Mercury.rnOther memories include being told by mother not to go near the river, this usually being ignored!' Usually, there were flying-boats to be seen either in the river or being attended to on the various slipways.
