Like the rest of the Savage trio, Hendon's example was also built by Wolseley Motors at Adderley Park, Birmingham, in 1918, and given the serial number F938. Also in common with the other two SE.5as in this feature, F937 may have been on charge with 84 Squadron, in this case in July 1919 at Eil in Germany.rnAcquired by the Savage Skywriting Company of Hendon, Middlesex, it was registered as G-EBIC on September 26,1923 and gained its Certificate of Airworthiness on April 17,1924. Turn to page 64 for some notes on a possible intermingling of this and the Science Museum airframe, now believed erroneous.rnCharlie's certification expired on September 30,1930 and it may well have been active right up to this time. This Savage is believed to have gone to the USA for a spell just as the other two did, where it entered a period of storage at company's headquarters. Its next owner ironically put it on a path that meant the fighter-turned-skywriter would return to Hendon in 1957-1959 and, permanently, from 1972.
