'hurri-bomber' Takes To The Skies

At 1.59pm on January 27, Hawker Hurricane llb G-HHII lifted off from the runway at North Weald, Essex, on its first post-restoration flight. The immaculate 'Hurri-bomber' is the latest addition to Peter Teichman's locally-based Hangar 11 Collection.rnThe rebuild has been extensive and exacting, taking 3 ln years and 28,000 man hours. The machine has been returned to 'stock' condition, bar the necessary concessions to modern safety equipment. The Hurricane is powered by a Packard Merlin 29, zero-timed by Maurice Hammond's Eyetech Engineering. The airframe has been restored by Suffolk-based Hurricane experts, Hawker Restorations.
