Author Barry M Marsden has spent a quarter of a century researching this book with the co-operation of several veterans, as well as the families of the deceased. It also includes 283 black and white images. Overall, he profiles 33 airmen from the county, who fought the Germans over France, in the Battle of Britain, over Europe, the Atlantic and Middle East, and even against the Japanese over the Timor Sea. It's clear that these were normal young men acting with immense bravery in the most extraordinary of times.
