My flight in a Superfortress

After enjoying the very interesting article on B-29 Superfortresses (June issue), I thought you would like to hear about my flight in a B-29. During my National Service in the RAF (1950-1952), I was posted to Marham, Norfolk, where 90 Sguadron was re-forming and awaiting delivery of its aircraft (B-29s - known as Washingtons in RAF service) from America. My trade was Engine Mech Asst, so I was put on a two-week course during this waiting period, and introduced to the Wright Cyclone engine. As the sguadron's aircraft arrived I was allocated to the ground crew of WF501 - 'N for Nan'.
