The late spring of 2012 marked the 95th anniversary of the death of Royal Flying Corps 'ace' Capt Albert Ball vc oso~*. Aged just 20, the young Nottinghamshire man was shot down on May 7,1917, with 44 victories to his name - he is buried at Annoeullin, France. Albert is a hero, but he is a hero among many. While there are few traces of the Great War's aerial battles in northern France today, the area is certainly an essential place to visit for anyone interested in the history of the war, and of those who took part in it.
