This is a note of praise via your pages please for the staff of Solway Aviation Museum. My wife and I were returning from a short break to Scotland on September 4 when, quite by chance, we saw a sign for the aviation museum. As we are both members of the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, and I am also a member of the Lincolnshire Lancaster Association, we decided to go and have a look. It was about 4.30pm when we arrived and we discovered that the museum closes at 5. The members on duty could not have been more helpful, offering to keep the museum open that bit longer so that we could have a good look around. More to the point, we were told that we could actually go and sit in the cockpit of their Avro Vulcan. especially was astounded at this and so we paid our entrance fees and toddled off to the Vulcan. Again, the staff there were extremely helpful. I entered and actually sat in the pilot's seat and was accompanied by a guide who told me lots about this position. I could not believe how small an area the pilot and co-pilot had, but I was in my element. After this excitement we made our way back up to the museum, looking at the other aircraft on show.
