Yorkshire Dakota fires up

The Yorkshire Air Museum's Douglas DC-3 G-AMYJ (originally C-47 KN353) successfully ran both of its Pratt & Whitney Wasp engines on May 5, albeit not simultaneously. The engines had previously been fired up on April 7. The return of the DC-3 to ground running condition is the culmination of 12 years of painstaking work from YAM's aircraft engineering section. The Dakota arrived at the museum in December 2001 after a 54-year career, having most recently been used for spares by Coventry's Air Atlantique.
