Andover arrives in Africa

Britain's last operational Hawker Siddeley Andover C.1, XS606, which was retired from service last year, recently embarked on a lengthy ferry flight to Kenya to begin a new career as a cargo carrier. XS606 was built in 1966 as the 13th of 31 tactical transports for the RAF. In 1972 it joined the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough and in 1975 transferred to Boscombe Down to begin a long period of service with the Empire Test Pilots School. XS606's final operational flight with the ETPS took place on August 31,2012, and on December 19 it was ferried to Bournemouth Airport to be prepared for delivery to Westwind Aviation.
