Hopefully it's not a state secret, but in the spring of 2013 the RAF, Fleet Air Arm and the Army Air Corps had a combined active fleet of about 980 aircraft. That includes Reaper drones and types owned and operated by contractors. Not counted are Air Cadet gliders, machines in long-term store, instructional airframes and the historic flights. On Wednesday July 15, 1953 a static display of 318 RAF aircraft had been carefully arranged at Odiham, Hampshire. That afternoon a flypast of 641 more aircraft streamed overhead. The nation's new monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ, was being introduced to her air force.
