Inside 'Just Jane'

At the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, East Kirkby, work continues on Lancaster VIII NX6I1 'Just Jane' with a view to restoring her to airworthy standard - see the March issue. The No.2 fuel tank has been removed for overhaul and to allow access to inspect inside the wing. The tank bay is in remarkably good condition considering the previous maritime operating environment - when the 'Lane' served with the French Aeronavale (1952 to 1964) - and length of time on display outdoors in the UK (1970 to 1983).
