The FlyHistorisk Museum in Sola, near Stavanger, Norway, is making good progress in its preservation work on Heinkel He 115B/C 8L+FH, which it recovered from Lake Limingen in June 2012. Upon reaching the museum, the airframe was separated into its five main components and placed in a freshwater conservation tank. Final plans for the floatplane have yet to be decided - it may be preserved in 'as found' condition or be restored. On October 21, the main tail section was lifted out of the tank for cleaning and preservation work. A wheeled rig was created and, after giving the section a thorough clean, a protective coat of lanolin was applied.
