Some counties provide an ideal basis for a tour of aviation heritage sites. Within a day, all the airfields, past and present, inside the boundaries can be viewed during an unhurried drive. Or a more leisurely inspection, perhaps combined with a couple of short hikes, can be made over a weekend. Not so Lincolnshire. The county is crammed with illustrious sites, fascinating visitor centres and museums, and the diverse scenery is magnificent. Even if you've got a week to spare, chances are you won't be able to do it all. So, divide and conguer. That tactic worked for the Romans and they provide some of the inspiration for our first foray into 'Bomber County'. This also will appeal to readers who have asked for shorter expeditions.
