Duxford's May special

Held over the mostly sunny Bank Holiday weekend of May 27 and 28, Duxford's Air Festival was a great opener for the Cambridgeshire airfield's flying 'season'. Highlights included an appearance on the Saturday from de Havilland Sea Vixen FAW.2 XP924. After a beautiful display, the jet sadly had to make a forced landing at its Yeovilton base following hydraulic problems (see News). Also impressing at the airshow was a spirited routine from a Rockwell OV-10B Bronco, plus routines from a pair of Supermarine Spitfire Mk.ls. A Jet Provost and Strikemaster duo added to the entertainment, the pair flying at an event together for the first time. A Noorduyn UC-64 Norseman, not seen at Duxford since the end of World War Two, also flew.
