Spielberg's air force drama begins production

A new USAAF-themed mini-series is being filmed in the UK - and a full-size replica of a Boeing 8-17 Flying Fortress (believed to be one of two) has been created for scenes shot at Abingdon in Oxfordshire. Masters of the Air has been developed by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, and is effectively a follow-up to the Hollywood duo's previous war-themed sagas Band of Brothers and The Pacific. The story is an adaptation of Donald L Miller's 2007 novel.
