As you'll see from pages 16-17 in this issue, the FlyPast editorial team has been to the cinema. Steve, Jamie and I thought the limited release of The Cold Blue was too tempting a prospect to miss. We weren't disappointed. This new documentary melds footage from William Wyler's original wartime Memphis Belle propaganda film with outtakes, and the reels have been fully restored in glorious 4K high definition, ensuring a vivid visual experience. Absorbing as the whole production is, it is the stories 0/the B-17 crews themselves that hit home. The footage certainly prompted us to imagine what life must haue been like in a freezing fuselage thousands of feet over Germany, running the gauntlet of flak and fighters.
