The Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum (FHCAM) opened its new building to the public on November 10. Based at Everett in Washington, it has enabled the attraction - set up by the late Paul G Allen - to increase its exhibition space by more than 60%. Its centrepiece is Junkers Ju 87R-4 Stuka 6234 L1+FW. The aircraft, which was once on the UK register as G-STUK, is one of several crashed aircraft recovered from the Soviet Union following the collapse of the Iron Curtain in 1989. Built in 1941, it served with Lehrgeschwader 1 and later Sturzkampfgeschwader 5. The cockpit of Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B XX899 was delivered from its former home at Coventry Airport to Newark Air Museum on October 26. Owner Robin Phipps has placed it there on long-term loan - it will be displayed alongside several other cockpits. Buccaneer XX899 participated in 1991's Operation Granby, the First Gulf War.
