Q: I am familiar with how a dethermalizer works on the typical model airplane, but now I am building a canard. How can I install a dethermalizer on this model with the stabilizer in front? A: Here's a way to get a canard out of a thermal. Bend .032 wire into a rectangular "U" shape that fits flat on the top of your fuselage. Bend the arms upward at 40 de- grees. This is the spring that you mount on top of your fuselage. Rubberbands make it removable, but you can also mount it permanently. Glue lengths of Vi6-inch tubing chordwise to the trailing edge of the stabilizer to accept the wire arms. Put a wire hook at the leading edge. Mount a dowel through the fuselage below the leading edge of the stabilizer. Put the snuffer tube into the side of the fuselage, then attach a hook for the rubberband farther back.
