The author cannot describe the feelings when he walked into Don Stewart's hangar and beheld Don's new homebuilt for the first time. In the present day, when homebuilts seem largely to be riveted together, pre-drilled kits or molded plastic "doggie toys", this wood, tube and rag creation defied description. Right out of the 1930s, it very pleasantly comprised one part Kinner Sportster, one part Ryan ST, a soupcon of Boeing P-26 with a pinch of Perci-val Gull tipped in for good measure. The aroma of vintage aviation wafted everywhere.rnThe only item missing from the menu was a pouring of vintage Berryloid dope. This is one of those airplanes that gives one a warm fuzzy feeling; the feeling that its pilot could stroll out in his carpet slippers, toss the favorite fly rod and waders in the back, tuck the pipe in the corner of the mouth....then head out for that $100 cup of coffee and pancakes before heading over to the fishing hole.
