Flocked wall paper - a forgotten product

Stuff depending on fashion, trends and on the public taste come and go. Mostly, after a few years they are re-discovered with a few small modifications, as it happens with flock print on fine textiles; something which boomed in the 50ies and 60ies and then was 'completely forgotten'. After about 15 years, this trend was here again and even today quite considerable productions are still running. This is not the case with flocked wall paper, the big time of which was in the 60ies when it reached us from the USA. Then, the three-dimensionality of the design was achieved by design printing with PVC-blow foam - this has also disappeared but at least it was cheaper at that time. The flocked wall paper said good-by to the market in the beginning of the 70ies and never re-appeared. Now, a student for textile design - and this after 30 years! - recognized the advantages of the flocked wall paper, designed modern patterns and wrote her thesis on flocked wall papers. Following, with some small cuts, is the synopsis of her work which was presented as her diploma thesis.
