"Where it shows up in the 49X is the customer-orientated vocational design," Carson, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the vocational segment at DTNA, said during the product launch. "We constantly brought the product strategy back to the customer perspective within the vocational segment." "We sent our engineers and cross-functional team all across America and Canada to listen to the customers and get contours of those roads, and we replicated those roads at the High Desert Proving Grounds," explained Tracy Mack-Askew, general manager of heavy-duty vocational platforms at DTNA. "Those test roads were built off those real roads driven by vocational segments, and we have tested this truck to the nines. We have beat this truck to hell. This truck is not only lighter weight, but it is definitely even more durable. We have more than 800,000 miles of vocational extreme-duty testing."
