NFPA (national fire protection association) 1901, Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus—1996, has received an early update by the Technical Committee on Fire Department Apparatus. The revised edition was approved by the Standards Council in August. Previously, the apparatus standard was updated on a five-year schedule. However, with technology in the apparatus field advancing so rapidly, the Committee agreed that a three-year cycle was necessary to keep pace.
