As I was nearing my residence, at approximately 4:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 15, 2006, the pager sounded for my fire company at the Spar-rowbush (NY) Engine Company (SEC), to respond to a water rescue in the Delaware River. The location was reported as the Eddy Farm Resort. Despite it being an unseasonably warm day, it still was February, and I wondered if I had really heard the message correctly. As luck would have it, I was within a quarter mile of the entrance to Eddy Farm and quickly was on the scene.
